Honda CBR650R E-Clutch 2026: the mid-size sport-GT continues its trajectory

A model that has become essential

Since its transformation in 2019, the Honda CBR650R has established itself as a versatile sport-GT, appealing to enthusiasts seeking thrills as much as those looking for a rewarding machine for daily use. Following a major overhaul in 2024 (new styling, TFT screen, E-Clutch), the 2026 model capitalizes on this strong foundation, introducing an exclusive color to update its look.

A modern aesthetic, built for performance

The design (sharp front light, sculpted fairing) and the 100% LED light signature remain current. The riding position is committed but accessible (seat at 810 mm). A USB socket is integrated under the seat for practical aspects.

TFT instrumentation and complete connectivity

The 5-inch TFT screen (optimal readability thanks to optical bonding) and the Honda RoadSync app (iOS/Android compatible) are major assets. The backlit left handlebar control with 4-axis command allows easy access to navigation, music, and calls via Bluetooth intercom.

E-Clutch: the game-changing technology

The E-Clutch system is standard on the CBR650R. It allows the rider to:

  • Start, stop, shift up and down without using the clutch lever.
  • Retain the option to use the clutch normally.
  • Offer three customizable feels (Hard, Medium, Soft) for selector response.
  • Be disconnectable at any time via the handlebar ("M" indicator in manual mode).

Very compact (+2 kg only), the E-Clutch is particularly comfortable in the city due to the absence of stalling and perfectly managed downshifts.

A rare and exciting four-cylinder

The 649 cc in-line four-cylinder engine is carried over:

  • 70 kW / 95.2 hp at 12,000 rpm
  • 63 Nm at 9,500 rpm
  • 35 kW A2 compatible version available.

Its revving is lively, and its sound is particularly expressive. Consumption of 4.9 l/100 km ensures a range exceeding 300 km. The HSTC torque control remains present and can be deactivated.

A precise and versatile chassis

The chassis, carried over for 2026, remains one of the model's strengths:

  • Balanced "Diamond" steel frame.
  • Showa SFF-BP 41 mm fork and adjustable preload monoshock.
  • 310 mm dual front disc braking with radial four-piston calipers and 2-way ABS.

The wet weight remains at 211 kg, ensuring stability at lean and handling.

New 2026 color

The 2026 CBR650R E-Clutch adopts Matte Black (new for 2026), complementing the already popular HRC Tricolor Red.

In summary: a 2026 CBR650R true to its DNA

The 2026 CBR650R chooses continuity, capitalizing on its unique engine and E-Clutch technology. It remains one of the most rewarding and versatile sport-GTs on the market, ideal for enjoying a modern and technological four-cylinder.
